It is not new that a Marvel movie is left without a director, in this case it is about Blade. The film starring Mahershala Ali has lost Bassam Tarikwho would take charge of the project. Obviously, that puts a strain on the film’s schedule, which was supposed to start production in a few weeks. According to some rumours, will not work on Blade until early 2023.
The continuous delays in the start of filming are the supposed reason why Blade It no longer has a director. According to a statement sent by Marvel to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Due to continual changes in our production schedule, Bassam will no longer continue as film director. Blade, but will remain as executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he has done to leave Blade where it is”.
For his part, Tariq also thanked Marvel in a separate statement:
“It has been an honor working with the wonderful people at Marvel. We were able to put together a great cast and crew. Eager to see where the new director takes the film.”
If we remember, we will remember that Blade was announced from Comic-Con 2019. The vast majority of the projects announced at that event have already been released, so it is surprising that Blade It’s taken too long just to get a script ready.
Are there problems in production? Blade?
Bassam Tariq’s departure has caused more details about this problematic tape to come to light. jeff sneiderindustry reporter and contributor to The Anklerreported that the film is still delayed because there are too many problems with the script.
“I was told that the current script of Blade it’s about 90 pages long and features exactly TWO (mediocre) action sequences. Mahershala (Ali) said he was very frustrated with the process. Feige said it was too stretched out. But hey, that’s what the sources told me. Do not shoot the messenger”.
So far, no member of the production has responded to rumors about the disastrous script of Blade, a project in which Marvel has high expectations. Will everything really be so problematic within the production? Until now, Blade has a release date of November 3, 2023. But if everything continues as it is now, it would not be surprising to hear of another delay.
John Joseph Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the cinema up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movies.
