Bitcoin developers receive grants and funding deals to continue their work on improving the technology, despite a bear market in the cryptocurrency industry, which in some cases is experiencing mass layoffs and debt defaults.
Spiral, an organization founded by Jack Dorsey, awarded a scholarship to Ruben Somsen, as announced in Twitter. Somsen will work together with another developer known as Dhruv on so-called “space strings” or spcechains.
The space chains they are blockchain networks that work in parallel to Bitcoin but that take advantage of the mining of this network to confirm their transactions and reinforce their security. A side chain similar to the concept of space chain it could be RSK, which bases its security on Bitcoin mining.
Ruben Somsen is also known for other contributions such as silent payments, which we recently reviewed in CriptoNoticias, and who has also had other innovative ideas such as Proof of Work tokens (Proof of Work Tokens) of Bitcoin, with various applications.
Lightning Network Creator Receives Grant as Developer Mentor
For his part, one of the authors of Lightning, the network of Bitcoin payment channels, also received a scholarship.
Tadge Dryja will primarily work as a mentor to other developers, focusing on creating practical tools and not focusing so much on the theoretical framework, according to the ad of the Brink organization, which awards the scholarship.
As I continue to work with students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), that work tends to be more academic and theory-oriented, and I hope that the work with the Brink fellows will be more development-oriented. I look forward to expanding the functionality of Bitcoin and welcoming researchers and programmers who want to continue doing what they do with us.
Tadge Dryja.
Dryja also has the merit of being the developer of Discreet Log Contracts (DLC), and of working on Utreexoa project that seeks to make Bitcoin nodes lighter.
The number of organizations that finance the development of Bitcoin continues to increase and can be seen on the WhoFundsBitcoin portal.
