Trent Oster, one of the founders of BioWare, has announced Mythforce together with his studio Beamdog. It’s about a roguelite first person shooter with a cartoon look inspired by the drawings of the 80s. Inspiration that goes beyond the simple aesthetics of this “Saturday morning roguelite”.
“I’m beyond excited to finally showcase our team’s original work,” says Oster (via gamesradar). “MythForce is pure, unadulterated fun, straight out of the Saturday mornings of my childhood. With a simple yet satisfying gameplay loop, it’s a huge departure from the classic RPGs we’re known for, but Beamdog’s DNA is evident if you know where to look.”
It is an action game in which you complete procedural levels alone or with three friends thanks to your cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four people. As a good roguelite, apart from the randomness of the game, when you die you start from the beginning and the experience becomes more demanding as you progress, while getting more and better loot.
Mythforce release date
Mythforce will go on sale next April 20 as an Early Access game and exclusively on the Epic Games Store. “MythForce is a feel-good game that speaks to the child in us. In Early Access we want to collaborate with players who are excited about our wholesome ’80s vision for MythForce, and build the best game possible. The community will be key to take us to 1.0Oster adds.
