The summer break is over and Formula 1 returns to activity starting the second part of the season in one of the mythical circuits: Spa-Francorchamps. Will Mercedes be able to definitively join the fight between Red Bull and Ferrari?
The Belgian Grand Prix marks the start of the second part of the season, which begins after a three-week break in which the teams have had the opportunity to rest. And it is that they are going to need renewed strength, because the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps marks the beginning of a treble of 3 consecutive Grand Prix.
That yes, of face to the championship the things are quite decanted in favor of Max Verstappen and Red Bull, who walk towards a new title with a firm step. Ferrari’s objective for the remainder of the year will be to restore confidence and consistency in results, in addition to securing at least the runner-up position.
Mercedes will try to become a regular in the fight for victories, something that has only happened occasionally at the moment, while Alpine and McLaren will star in the dispute for fourth place in the championship. The team of Fernando Alonso He will also have the task of recovering calm after the earthquake that emerged in August as a result of the signing of the Spaniard by Aston Martin and the refusal of Oscar Piastri to replace him in 2023.

This is the circuit: Spa-Francorchamps
It is not easy to find a location as beautiful as Spa, which gives an already challenging layout a meteorological and orographic singularity available to very few. Its slopes, its length, its combination of curves and straight lines… everything adds up to give Spa-Francorchamps a unique character.
Confidence in this circuit is vital, as it has multiple high-speed turns that test the pilot’s mettle. For him to feel confident, it is crucial that he has an aerodynamically efficient car. And it is that the combination of fast curves with long straights forces to find a compromise between top speed and aerodynamic grip that only efficient single-seaters will be able to find.
And obviously, the engine is a key part to achieve it, because having more power will make it possible not to have to unload the car so much to be fast at top speed. Spa-Francorchamps is quite a challenge for the teams, as it demands at all levels. Mastering the Belgian track is not something that is within everyone’s reach.

The calendar of the Formula 1 World Championship
The 2022 season was intended to become the longest in history hosting 23 Formula 1 Grand Prix, although after the cancellation of the Russian Grand Prix it was not yet clear if this wish would be fulfilled. In the end it will not be like that and, once again, the championship will remain in 22 events.
Regardless of that, this year’s calendar has once again welcomed classic events that were absent during the pandemic. We talk about racing Australia, Canada, Singapore and Japan. The first was already played during the month of April and the second did the same in June. The Asians will have to wait until the fall to certify their return.

The drivers and teams of the Formula 1 World Championship
But without a doubt the great protagonists of the 2022 Formula 1 Championship, as every year, are the participants: 10 teams and 20 drivers willing to complete the longest season in history touring four continents and 21 countries.
On this year’s grid we have three world champions, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, as well as a rookie driver: the Chinese Guanyu Zhou, who forms a couple with Valtteri Bottas at Alfa Romeo. We also see the return of Alexander Albon with Williams and Kevin Magnussen with Haas.
One more season, Spain is represented by Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, both framed in the same team as in 2021. The Spaniard defends the colors of Alpine and is in charge of executing THE PLAN to the best of his ability, which, however, does not include fighting for the title or for victories.
On the other hand, the man from Madrid could reach that point, as Ferrari has improved even more this year and already aspires to important things with Red Bull and Mercedes as main opponents. can Carlos Sainz beat again a very fast Charles Leclerc?
