The first version of the film Barbie, with Amy Schumer as the lead, is a project that never came to fruition. Now we’re gearing up for Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig’s interpretation of the doll’s story, but why was the film never made with Schumer in the lead? In 2017, when the comedian and actress resigned from the production, it was said that the reason for her was her “schedule problems”. However, the real reason behind her mishap has already been revealed.
In an interview on the show Watch What Happens Live, the interpreter clarified that if she no longer wanted to participate in the film, it was because she had creative differences related to the script. This is what she said about it:
I can’t wait to see the movie [de Margot Robbie]It looks awesome. I think we said it was scheduling, that’s what we said. But yeah, they were creative differences. But, you know, there’s a new team behind it, and it seems like it’s very feminist and cool, so I’ll watch the movie.”

To this, the driver Andy Cohen asked Schumer if the “creative differences” had something to do with the fact that the script for his version was not “feminist and cool”, to which she simply replied: “Yes . Yeah”.
It was in 2016 when it was announced that Schumer would star in the film based on the Mattel doll. Even the actress and her sister Kim Caramele planned to do a rewrite of the script, but this never came to fruition.
In fact, in 2022, Schumer told The Hollywood Reporter that the agreement to participate in the project did not bear fruit because Sony, the original producing studio, had other plans:
“They definitely didn’t want to do it the way I wanted, the only way I was interested in doing it.”
The movie of Barbie with Amy Schumer did not come true. Now, the adventure will be produced by Warner Bros. and is preparing to hit theaters on July 20. HERE You can read the first reactions.
