Likewise, the Seattle-based content recommendation startup backed by Bill Gates, has launched Pixa free artificial intelligence (AI) assistant designed to help users discover TV shows, movies, books and podcasts in a personalized way.
This innovative tool, according to GeekWireis based on the company’s own data and uses OpenAI’s natural language processing technology.
Ian Morris, CEO of Likewise, described Pix as more than just an AI chatbot. Pix is a personal agent that uses proprietary company data and individual user preferences to provide accurate and timely recommendations.
For example, if a user searches for horror movies on Hulu using Pix, The tool will send notifications when new movies are released that match your previous searches. Additionally, in future updates, Pix will also take into account content marked as favorites by users in their accounts.
Accessibility and availability
Accessibility and widespread availability are key aspects of Pix. Users can interact with Pix through email, text messages, web and mobile applications, as well as on connected TV platforms.
“We firmly believe that personal agents will be essential in bringing AI to consumers’ everyday lives. The key to success lies in personalization based on each user’s history and preferences, along with being proactive in delivering relevant recommendations”Morris stated.
In addition to Pix, Likewise earlier this year also launched a plugin that integrates directly with the OpenAI chatbot, giving users even more options to interact with the AI.
Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Likewise has a team of 25 employees and was founded in October 2018 by Larry Cohen, former head of communications at Microsoft, who now serves as president of Likewise and CEO of Gates Ventures.
Likewise’s main financial backing comes from Bill Gates, who invested $15 million in the company at the end of 2021. Gates has previously stated that he considers generative AI “the most important technological advance since the graphical user interface.”
