Frauds are the order of the day and when we talk about used vehicles of foreign origin, the famous ‘chocolate cars’, we must be alert to some deceptions.
On January 19, 2022, the decree for the regularization of used vehicles of foreign origin was published. Until now, one million 319,438 cars have been regularized and 3,298 million pesos have been collected for this concept, according to data from the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection.
On social networks it is common to come across ads that promise the sale and regularization of these vehicles, but they are only scams. “False internet sites offering such regularization have already been identified.
Don’t be surprised. The only official page to generate your appointment is through the Electronic Appointment System of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System. The Public Vehicular Registry (REPUVE) does not have WhatsApp nor does it request payments from OXXO, PAY or SPEI references. You can only make the payment for the regularization of a vehicle directly in the authorized banks with a SAT capture line.
“The phenomenon of contraband vehicles has increased and there are crimes that are committed with these ‘crooked’ cars because they have not been registered in the Regularization of Used Vehicles of Foreign Origin program and the authentic owners have not been identified” warns Alejandro Desfassiaux, president of Grupo Multisistemas de Seguridad Industrial®.
Regularize to reduce crimes
More than a million “chocolate” cars have already been regularized; and now there are another million or more waiting for regularization. But, we must be alert to fraud in this regard, since many of these vehicles remain illegal and thousands of units have not stopped entering Mexico, explains the security expert.
“The decision to regularize the illegal cars that are already circulating in the country helps to reduce crimes such as the commercialization of this type of units and the use of contraband vehicles in assaults and robberies. In addition, it provides an opportunity to those who cannot acquire a new vehicle”, warns the also founder of the National Private Security Council
(CNSP).
The Regularization of Used Vehicles of Foreign Origin program has collected 3,298 million pesos for the maintenance of streets and avenues in the 14 participating states: Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León , Puebla, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.
“We have already alerted people to the various frauds that exist on the internet in the regularization of used cars of foreign origin known as ‘chocolate’. What we want is to prevent people from having a bad experience due to fraudulent purchases”, reiterates Desfassiaux.
To prevent a scam, every business leader must train their employees in fraud prevention and have allies such as Grupo Multisistemas de Seguridad Industrial®, which has been dedicated for 40 years to solving private security problems in order to ensure the peace of mind of people and companies.
