Almost nothing away from being nominated for an Oscar for Elvis, Austin Butler recalled his time on the Disney and Nickelodeon series. Despite the fact that this year his career rose in a meteoric way, and that his presence was imperative at each event and on the red carpet of the industry, the actor remains firm on the path of humility and is grateful for all the experiences he has had.
while talking to Backstage Magazine the actor acknowledged that without those situation shows, he would not be where he is now. He asserted that everything he has done throughout his career, he has done with effort.
«I look back at the Nickelodeon and Disney series that I did; although my ability was not there, I still wanted to give all the energy [como si] was doing Raging Bull,” he said. “I kept up that fierce dedication to trying to find more truth, even in things where it might be easier to put the least effort into.”
Now that the actor’s name has been mentioned at almost every award show, he’s probably feeling more satisfied. Despite that, he does not look back on his years on children’s and adolescent television with disdain. Although, it was a reality that they were not enough for him, not because of his ambitions, but in a matter of facing greater challenges.
“I was doing these TV shows that were really fun, and some people really enjoyed them,” he commented. «But I did not feel fulfilled as an artist. He just wasn’t being challenged the way he wanted to be.”
Elvis it was probably the most intense challenge he has had in his career thus far. The role of the famed singer almost fell into the hands of Miles Teller or pop megastar Harry Styles. In the end, however, Baz Luhrmann opted for Butler, after seeing the moving audition he sent on video.
The director recounted that when he saw the audition sent by Butler, he thought that perhaps the boy was “suffering a breakdown.” This happened because Austin had a dream about his mother who died just the day before. Reason why his emotion when interpreting “Unchained Melody” was otherwise intense and committed.
Austin Butler remembers Nickelodeon and Disney, but his career leads him in other exciting directions. The actor was already chosen to participate in part 2 of Dunewhich is in its filming stage.
