What will be Fernando Alonso’s new team next year is working hard to try to get back on track after a season in which things are not going according to plan. In addition, it confirms the continuity of Lance Stroll.
Fernando Alonso will be Aston Martin’s new leader after confirming the withdrawal of Sebastian Vettel and also the signing of the Spanish driver by the British formation based in Silverstone.
A team that has taken advantage of Fernando Alonso’s announcement to confirm two more important pieces of news: that it has already focused entirely on 2023 new car development and that Lance Stroll will accompany the two-time world champion as an official driver next year.
«I have witnessed the enthusiasm in the engineering team and throughout the organization at the opportunity to work with Fernando»
Team Principal Mike Krack has confirmed this, noting that Aston Martin is “delighted to have Fernando and Lance in our driver line-up next year – the combination of experience and youth will be incredibly strong and both drivers are looking forward to competing and work together”.
The Luxembourg engineer also points out that “the team has a new direction focused on the development of the AMR23and we are all delighted that they and our future projects will benefit from the knowledge and experience that Fernando will bring.”
Overflowing illusion by the arrival of Alonso
There is no doubt that for a team under construction the arrival of a pilot of the caliber of Fernando Alonso is quite an event, and Mike Krack himself does not hide the excitement that the news has generated in Aston Martin.
“I have witnessed the enthusiasm in the engineering team and throughout the organization at the opportunity to work with Fernando. We know that almost anyone can learn from someone of Fernando’s caliber and experience.”points out the next boss of the Spanish.
“We trust that it will inspire everyone to improve their performance, which will increase the energy that already exists in the team.. We are on a journey to build a winning organization, and it is clear that Fernando will accelerate our progress and lead to performance we can be proud of,” he concluded.
A team in training
Aston Martin comes from Force India, which became Racing Point following the purchase of the team by Lawrence Stroll in 2018. Since then, the Canadian investor has executed a plan to take Aston Martin to the top of the Formula 1.
Since its official conversion into Aston Martin in 2021, the team he has alternated good performances with very disappointing ones and it could even be said that it has been the one that has come out of the technical regulation change implemented this season the worst.
But Fernando Alonso has seen potential in a team that has signed a lot in recent months, highlighting Martin Whitmarsh (CEO of Aston Martin Performance Technologies), the aforementioned mike krack (team manager), Luca Furbato (director of engineering) and Dan Fallows (technical director) among others.
Aston Martin is also planning to build a new headquarters in Silverstone, which will have all the latest technology. Will all this be enough to propel Fernando Alonso to the top again?
