One of the great mysteries of science is located in New South Wales, a region of Australia. In this area of the oceanic continent there is a crater-like structure theorized to have been caused by an asteroid.
If true, we would be in the presence of the largest and most devastating ever found in the history of our Earth. This theory gained a lot of strength in 2020, after an intense study that lasted about five years, carried out by the geologist Andrew Glikson.
The expert says that this asteroid would have fallen on Earth between 450 and 600 million years. Its diameter of about 520 kilometers makes it the largest impact on the planet, surpassing almost by four what was done in the Chicxulub crater (180 kilometers).

Deniliquin’s structure has not yet been confirmed, but Glikson and other scientists believe there is strong evidence for its existence. The evidence includes a pattern of magnetic anomalies in the ground, as well as a number of geological features that are consistent with an asteroid impact.
In fact, recent data published by the portal D.W.obtained from another study by the same geologist, indicate that there is no other possible explanation: it came from an asteroid.
Research on Deniliquin’s structure points to an asteroid impact that would have been more than twice the scale of the one that killed the dinosaurs (the one at Chicxulub).
“When an asteroid collides, it creates a crater with a central prominence. This is similar to the effect of a drop of water splashing upwards from an ephemeral crater when a stone is thrown into a pond,” Glikson said, according to the cited media.
The Deniliquin structure is believed to have formed when an asteroid about 10 kilometers in diameter impacted Earth. The impact would have released a massive amount of energy, equivalent to about 100 million atomic bombs, say insiders.
