I remember that a few weeks ago —maybe months— I talked about OpenAi GPT Chat for the first time. To write this column, I registered, I gave some keys, I spoke to him, he wrote me something that I didn’t quite know what it was; In other words, I took my first steps to recount the Chat experience here.
Later, if my memory serves me correctly, I came back to this topic sometime again. But suddenly, without wanting to, it has become a trending topic mainly for the marketing community. I’ve already seen a thousand TikToks talking about what you can do. The ideas you can get and even how to make books that you can monetize with the GPT Chat. In this case, I am thinking of simple tasks, but obviously there is an infinite world yet to be discovered.
In this sense, I am already preventing it, perhaps art created by the duo Chat GPT + Midjourney will come [del que quizás no he hablado, pero pronto hablaré. Es un sistema de Inteligencia Artificial para crear gráficos. De ahí salen toda la tendencia de los dinosaurios, dicho sea de paso]. Perhaps some discoveries, literature and, last but not least, automations and marketing and advertising campaigns. I’m already seeing it: “The first advertising campaign made by artificial intelligence”.
Now, to talk about this is to speculate. But let’s get to the facts and the economic, social and cultural background.
Last week I spoke precisely about Elon Musk’s intentions to buy Twitter and how Meta is also going to compete with this. It seems that the Artificial Intelligence war is coming. And perhaps at this point we have inadvertently gone from the 3rd to the 4th industrial revolution without even realizing it. But there is one fact that can be a game changer, particularly at the corporate level.
Here is an interesting phenomenon. Until June 2022, Google’s market share vs. other search engines was overwhelming. More than 91.8% of Google vs 3.19% of Bing. These data were migrating. For example, already in September of the same year, it grew to 4.58%, according to data from Wikipedia. And it is that since the end of the previous year, it was announced that Bing incorporated Chat GPT technology into its search engine (and it was not for less, Microsoft invested $1,000 million dollars in the development of the language model, according to data from Chat GPT itself, by the way). This immediately made the popularity of said search engine grow.
Now, with the arrival of version 4.0 of the AI Chat and its full potential, Bing now has approximately 600 million daily users, which represents a growth of more than 600% compared to the previous year.
At this point it is interesting how a development can catapult a corporation, like a search engine that hardly anyone was talking about just 6 months before.
Now, I think you have to be very careful with Microsoft. Be careful in a good way, because it looks like the sleeping giant is going to wake up, since it is betting on the integration of its tools with artificial intelligence. And I believe that with that step, he will dominate the entire world. I think it’s going to create a moving bubble with Artificial Intelligence and language models—very much like the movie Her from 2012—, where we can automatically ask you to make presentations for our clients from your power point program, to give an example that is perhaps a bit unfortunate. Or not only that, with other integrations of programs such as excel. Imagine if you could ask Bing, “Give me my bank statements, put them in Excel and get the tax percentages. I’m still exaggerating it, but here we can see another use as part of your service integration.
And in that sense, I think Microsoft is very clear about where it’s going, getting ahead of all its competitors by at least 20 years into the future. And surely Bill Gates is behind all this.
Perhaps the evolution on the Internet was never the MetaVerse, as Mark Zuckerberg thought, but the answer was always: develop language models through Artificial Intelligence.
Now, let’s see what other surprises the new versions of GPT Chat bring us. But, as I always say, you have to wait to see the background of all this.
When that happens, we will discuss it here.
