Fortnite has opened a world of possibilities for everyone, not only when it comes to gaming, but also for entertainment and art. This time the American artist Bryan Donnelly, better known as Kaws, has the opportunity to enter the Battle Royale.
Who is Kaws?
More than talking about Fortnite itself (which is surely no longer necessary or alien to video game fans), let’s talk about this new collaboration. Kaws started in the 90s as a graffiti artist (or street artist). His work begins to take on importance from the interventions of advertising posters.
Then he began his career in the world of fashion and Art Toys (with Medicom Toys) launching his own Original Fake brand with which he began to consolidate his legacy with the already known x in his work, doing parodies of Disney characters, Star Wars, The Simpsons, among others.
Currently the artist is one of the most recognized worldwide, with exhibitions mainly in Japan, Korea and the United States.
He has collaborated with artists like Travis Scott, with brands like Uniqlo and his success has been such that he was selected to create the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards award.
Its figures have become a highly coveted item, finishing in minutes on the day of its launch and reaching a value of up to 500,000 Mexican pesos.
And what is the importance of this?
Fortnite went from being a simple Battle Royale to being a platform for coexistence and experiences that go beyond experiencing an online game.
Such is the importance of this that artists like Travis Scott, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, and even JBalvin have held “concerts” to add value to Fortnite.
In the case of skins, this is also highly relevant due to the fact that it supports other areas that would seem alien to the gaming world. With this Epic Games opens the possibilities to see collaborations with more artists and, why not, even an NFT gallery for collectors of digital art.
