The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Argentina enters the non-fungible tokens (NFT) market, but with a philanthropic twist. The secret society is releasing 77 digital art NFTs under the CryptoMasons name, with proceeds going to local charities supported by the chapter.
According to the announcement, it is the first official NFT project supported by a local Grand Lodge. A Masonic Grand Lodge is the entity that governs a certain fraternal group of Masons in a specific region. Although this project comes from an Argentine branch, there are hundreds around the world.
The collection contains esoteric imagery related to Masonic lore and history, such as the black and white checkered floors and the infamous square and compass symbol. Even the specific number of 77 NFTs available correlates to a significant number within occult traditions and spirituality.

Behind this collection are the philanthropic intentions of the Lodge, which pledges part of the funds to local charities. The collection’s website states that the organization uses this collection, in part, to “elevate philanthropy to a new and unprecedented scale in the institution’s history.”
This is another NFT collection that uses the combination of Web 3.0 technology and utility for philanthropy. Digital assets are being used from things like fundraising for victims of the conflict in Ukraine to the patronage of micro-donations for classical music.
Proceeds from the sale of the CryptoMason NFTs will go to a local orphanage, a youth career center, and an immigrant rights center in Argentina.

This event in Argentina comes as the country continues to adopt cryptocurrencies. On August 24, the province of Mendoza began accepting cryptocurrencies for taxes and administrative fees. A month earlier, Binance and Mastercard announced the launch of cryptocurrency prepaid cards for Argentine users.
According to data from the Triple A survey, around 58% of the Argentine population owns some type of cryptocurrency, which means more than 2.4 million people.
