Facebook is once again the scene of a new phishing attack. The social network with the largest number of users in the world, approximately 2,700 million, does not stop growing. So much so that its number of active users has doubled in the last five years. This growth prompts cybercriminals to use it to deceive people and get them to share confidential information such as passwords, credit card numbers, or bank information.
New scam on Facebook
Be very careful with the last scam to steal your Facebook account. These days several users of the social network are receiving messages from an unknown contact that includes a link and the following text: Are you the one who appears in this Video?
By clicking on the link in this message we are redirected to a page in which Facebook asks us to verify our account to have access to the video in which we theoretically appear. Obviously such video does not exist and the only thing they are trying is to acquire our access data to Facebook in order to steal our account. If we fall into the trap of these types of messages, the best we can do is report what happened.
The new tortuous way to steal your Facebook account. A contact sends you a message saying, Are you the one in this video ??? It puts you the link, you enter and it asks for your credentials. Book phising. Great care! pic.twitter.com/JVEwf4ZLZh

How to recognize and avoid phishing?
The massive use of the Internet has allowed access to information to be easy and immediate, connecting thousands of people around the world through social networks. But not everything was going to be benefits. With its use, common threats such as pishing have also appeared.
The phishing consists of a computer attack that uses digital means of communication such as social networks, email or mobile applications in order to deceive and defraud people. The objective of these attacks like the one we tell you about Facebook is to obtain confidential data to commit crimes, either simply steal your Facebook account or through it, obtain some personal data that gives access to bank accounts.
The main characteristics that a phishing attack can have are the following:
- Make it a unknown contact the one who tries to contact us.
- They make a alarm or a concern within us like the one we are the protagonists of a video of which we are not aware.
- Phishing messages or emails often have links to other websites or to forms in which we are asked to verify an account.
- If the message is poorly worded or contains spelling mistakes the best we can do is distrust.
Social networks like Facebook are also a drain on Applications that promise us that we can spy on someone else’s Facebook. The first is that these types of actions are unethical and the second is that it can cause us a few legal problems. It is also common for us to find phishing attacks in these types of applications, therefore, be careful if you consider using them at some point in your life.
