In this note we tell you the reason why there will be no need to send any of your children to school that belongs to these educational levels, as indicated by the SEP school calendar for the 2022-23 cycle. It should be remembered that next week, May 1 and 5, will be non-business days.
Why will there be no classes on Friday, April 28?
As can be seen in the calendar granted by the Ministry of Public Education, better known as the SEP, this April 28 several students will not be able to attend schools in Mexico. On this day, the teachers and principals of each school meet for several hours to analyze and adopt different strategies in order to benefit the educational development of preschool, primary, and secondary students.
In the 2022-2023 school year, 13 sessions of the School Technical Council (CTE) were established so that teachers can carry out the aforementioned activities. They are scheduled for the last Friday of each month unless extraordinary situations arise. In total, the students will rest on Friday the 28th, Saturday the 29th, Sunday the 30th and Monday the 1st of May, while the teachers will enjoy the last three days mentioned.
Along these lines, the last Friday of April will fall on April 28 and, in addition to the CTE, an Intensive Continuous Training Workshop for New Teachers, Study Plans and Programs will be held. At the meeting, the attendance of all teachers is requested, including those who teach special classes, for example; physical education, English, computing, and technical advisors. Which means that on Friday, April 28, 2023, basic education students will not have to attend school, returning to class next Tuesday, May 2, since the previous day is a holiday because Labor Day is celebrated.
What is the purpose of the School Technical Council meetings?
The CTE seeks to innovate and consider the situation of each school, in order to analyze, share strategies, perspectives, materials and readings that will help decision-making to establish a solid school policy, always for the benefit of girls, boys and teenagers.
Through the CTE meetings, the aim is to promote the improvement of educational achievements, as well as address various aspects or problems that are related, such as the eradication of educational lag, promoting reading, writing, and mathematics. These actions require the decision and involvement of the entire school structure for their proper execution and effective results.
Why is there a Megabridge in Mexico?
On May 1, in Mexico, Labor Day or International Worker’s Day is commemorated. As it is an official rest date contemplated in the Federal Labor Law, teachers and, therefore, students suspend work on this date.
In this sense, the return to school will be until Tuesday, May 2. So take your precautions to avoid traffic chaos with the return to school. It should be noted that on Friday, May 5, there will be no classes either, since the Battle of Puebla is commemorated.
