The new Apple Studio Display includes a Thunderbolt cable of only 1 meter, making users pay up to 179 euros more if this is not enough.
A few days ago, Apple’s “Peek Performance” event took place. In it, various news related to its products were presented, including the new 3rd Generation iPhone SE or the 5th Generation iPad Air. However, maybe what was most liked and at the same time surprised about this event was the launch of Mac Studiowhich launched a new range of equipment aimed mainly at professionals.
Said new team did not arrive alone, but it did accompanied by the new Apple Studio Display monitor. This screen comes loaded with high technology, with a new design, several connections, an advanced audio system and even the A13 Bionic chip of the iPhone, just as comment our companions of iPadizate. And, as expected, its price is not exactly low: part of the 1,779 euros in Spain, but the fact that its Thunderbolt cable is only 1 meter has not sat very well.
The new Apple Studio Display arrives with a cable of only 1 meter, passing through the box if more is needed
As we mentioned, the new release from Apple is an ideal external display for professionals. However, the anger on the part of some users is related to the fact that, starting from a price that is not so accessible, the Thunderbolt 4 cable that is included in the box to be able to connect it with the Mac, has an extension of only 1 meter.
In the event that the computer is located immediately below the monitor, as it appears in the official images of the same that have been shared by Apple, this cable of only 1 meter may be enough. However, if you want to move the computer a little further, it can be complicatedand it is precisely here where the problem comes.
Apple’s solution is that you buy another cable to be able to use the Studio Display with your Mac without any problem, but its fault again is in the price. Accessing the Apple Store, you can see how the cheapest version of the Thunderbolt 4 cable It has a price of 149 eurosand its length is 1.8 meters. As an alternative, there is the possibility of using an older model, such as the 2-meter Thunderbolt 3 cable, whose price stands at 49 eurosbut it is true that not the most recommended for the new monitor.
To this we must also add that, if 1.8 meters of cable is not enough, again the solution proposed by the brand is to pay even more. Although it is not currently available for purchase, already appears in your online store a version with 3 meters in length and with the price of 179 euros.
For now, and until third-party solutions for these cables with Thunderbolt 4 technology appear, Apple will force users to purchase these accessories if the ones included with the Studio Display do not fit. to the work environment, something that has not gone down too well on social networks.
