The demanding design of the glasses works against Apple!
After the wait for all the products that Apple promised for this 2021, and the followers begin to wonder about the next news. And one of the firm’s most trusted analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, has offered clues. In a recent post, he states that Apple is ahead in the development of augmented reality glasses, but the production of the same could be delayed.
According to the note for investors shared since 9to5mac, industrial design requirements Apple for several of the components are “much higher than competitive products”**. And precisely these demanding characteristics that would cause delay in the supply chain.
Apple glasses could arrive in 2022
According to sources in Apple’s supply chain, Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the production of the glasses will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022, while previously scheduled for the second quarter of 2022. To this assertion, analysts at Young Optics of Taiwan, one of the possible suppliers of components for Apple’s new device, will be greatly affected by the delay.
Likewise, Kuo states that Apple does not want to position its mixed reality glasses only as a gaming device, but also as a useful device to other categories of applications. According to Kuo, there is an expectation that Apple’s solution will have “the best industrial design so far”.
In the last year, reports on Apple glasses have been on the rise, revealing more about their possible features. A few weeks ago, several sources claimed that Apple would have already completed the design of its chips and would be ready to start the testing period. And given Tim Cook’s wish for Apple to release the glasses before he retires, it seems likely that, albeit with delays, we will see the device in 2022.
