Apple just released a major update to the AirPods, version 4A400 is here.
Apple has just released a new update to the AirPods, and in this case the news is very important, especially for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max users. This new software we brings new features in the Find app for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, being able to locate them in a much easier way.
Apple told us about this feature in the last WWDC 21 in which iOS 15 was presented, but we did not know exactly when it would reach users. The wait is over, and version 4A400 is now available for AirPods, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Additionally, Apple has also released version 4A394 for the Beats Solo Pro, Powerbeats 4 and Powerbeats Pro, which share many functions with the AirPods.
What’s new in update 4A400
Unfortunately, Apple does not offer any news notes or lists in the updates of the AirPods or Beats, so you have to wait to find the improvements. However, what we do know is that the functions of the Search app have been activated.
Compatible AirPods models, currently AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, gain features within the Search app. Hopefully the upcoming AirPods 3 are also supported. Among these functions we have the precise location, a new nearby search user interface, lost mode and the ability to receive notifications when we do not take them with us.
This means that, even if you lose your AirPods, you can get them back by working as a kind of AirTag. The AirPods now go into the Search Network, and emit a Bluetooth signal capable of be received by any Apple device to show you the exact location. When you are near them, a new interface will appear to find them.
How to update AirPods
Updating the AirPods is not something easy As with other devices, we must follow a series of steps and have some luck to update the firmware of the AirPods. Basically the process is to keep your charged AirPods close to the iPhone until they update.
You can check the version that your AirPods have from Settings> Bluetooth and pressing the “i” that appears next to the name of the AirPods when they are connected to the iPhone or iPad.
