Check the battery condition
To determine if a replacement is necessary, check the condition of the battery as follows:
- In macOS Big Sur, choose Apple menu > System Preferences> Battery, select Battery in the sidebar, then click Battery Status.
- In macOS Catalina or earlier, hold down the Option key and click the battery icon in the menu bar to display the correct menu.
Update macOS
To make sure you have the latest version of macOS, go to Apple menu > System Preferences> Software Update to check if any updates are available. Look for macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 or later, or the macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Supplemental Update.
