Manzana has announced its plans to adopt the RCP messaging standard next year, seeking to provide a more seamless texting experience between iPhones and Android devices.
It cost, but they will do it
For more than a year, the company had resisted implementation of the standard Rich Communication Services (RCS), despite pressure from Google of Alphabet and other market players so that the manufacturer of the iPhone adopt this technology.
According to Apple, the new technology will be integrated with iMessage and promises greater interoperability compared to SMS or MMS.
The RCS standard, recognized in the messaging industry, allows users to send and receive high-quality photos and videos, maintain conversations via WiFi or mobile data, and receive read receipts for messages, among other functions.
