Apple would already be thinking about the specifications of its console and everything.
Although it is something that has been discussed for years, it seems that the rumors that Apple could be willing to create its own game console and compete directly as a manufacturer against Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo, beyond being simply a gaming platform, as it is now thanks to iOS and Apple Arcade. At least, that’s what journalist Jez Corden suggests.
During the latest episode of The Xbox Two podcast, Corden claimed to have heard rumors that Apple was working on its own console. He comments that those from Cuppertino would have been “hunting” Xbox engineers to help them set console specs. It’s a rumor that has been around for quite some time, but Corden is betting on giving it some credence right now.
Among the misinformation that occurs around this supposed Apple console, Corden suggests that would have some support for virtual reality and would even bet on the metaverse, whatever that means. Apple would be studying many ideas, but the journalist fails to confirm whether these rumors are true or whether Apple has already given up on its idea of making a game console.
Apart from Apple, when asked about another big company that could get into the video game industry to manufacture its own game console, Corden suggests that Tencent could do it. The Chinese telecommunications giant is the company with the highest turnover in the entire video game industry, above Sony and Microsoft.
At the moment there is nothing firm to suggest that Apple may be working on its own video game console, but it is already known how large companies are and their commitment to diversifying business. Precisely for fear of the inexperience of Apple, Facebook or Amazon is that Microsoft took over Activision-Blizzard, Phil Spencer recently assured in an interview.
