If you’ve been following the news over the past few weeks, you should know that Apple and Google have worked hand in hand to create a contact tracing API.
This development took place following the surge of the coronavirus around the world, plunging the world into compulsory containment to stem the virus.
This API is then intended for the American States and the various countries with a view to setting up mobile applications making it possible to trace suspicious or infected people.
Apple’s and Google’s API in the wild
Following strong requests from different countries and ministries, Apple and Google have just published the source code of their contact tracing API.
Bearing the name of Exposure Notification, the latter has allowed different countries to create contact-tracing apps aimed at dealing with COVID-19.
Good news for us, the users, since we had access to the documentation and specifications of the tool, but now we are aware of the code used in the different applications in the countries.
One way to be transparent: as a reminder, France used its own system with StopCovid, where Germany, Japan or even Switzerland have opted for the API of the two giants.
