Although pain is inevitable, there are techniques and postures that reduce its intensity. Find your comfort, lean on your partner, trust the medical team and remember that soon you will hug your baby!
There is a reality: childbirth hurts and you are likely to be afraid. Just don’t forget that this pain is the signal that your body is preparing for the arrival of your child. These movements and postures can help make it less painful.
PAIN TOLERANCE
Every woman has a different tolerance to pain. Genetics, life situation or lived experiences determine the ability to resist it. Also, the hospital environment and fear of childbirth can increase pain.
BECAUSE IT HURTS?
The pain of childbirth comes from two different points: the first is the cervix because it is full of nerve endings and when it dilates it produces pain. The second comes from the descent and rotation of the baby’s head inside the pelvic canal.
LYING
You make more force because you go against gravity, although there are investigations that ensure that there is less risk of blood loss.
IN CUCLILLAS
The whole body collaborates in the descent of the baby, although it is also tired. You must hold onto a bar or your partner to maintain balance.
IN WATER
It reduces pain, facilitates relaxation and reduces the use of epidural anesthesia, it should only be performed if there were no complications in the pregnancy and delivery is expected to be the same.
EMOTIONAL HELP
It is important that your partner, family member or doula prepare to give you physical and emotional support. It will give you a feeling of security, which will allow you to relax more during the dilation, you will have more confidence and there will be a greater production of oxytocin for a normal evolution of that delivery.
