In a recent interview, Angela Bassett shared a sneak peek of some of his action work on Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwhere he repeats the role of the queen ramondathe mother of T’Challa and Shuri.
As the Queen Mother of Wakanda, Ramonda still plays a key role in leading her country into battle if need be. When asked if she will have more in this sequel, Bassett admitted that her character has a strength that fans should look for during the movie’s action scenes.
He also praised the film’s writer-director Ryan Coogler for his talent and his work in bringing Wakanda back into the spotlight.
I actually give a lot of credit to our director and our screenwriter Ryan Coogler. He is tremendously talented, and everyone he brings to the set, everyone in front of the camera and behind the camera, they are amazing and give a thousand percent of what they have. So it’s a beautiful place.
He also recalled his time working with the late Chadwick Boseman, whom he met about 15 years ago at Howard University. Boseman guided him through school when he received an honorary degree there, and she marveled at how he didn’t remind her of this until after they finished shooting. Black Panther.
Maybe about 15 years ago, I received an honorary doctorate from Howard University. So I went there, and he was my guide, he was my student guide before all this. There he was already an actor, yes. He told me that at the launch party, at the premiere party.
She was quite surprised that he kept that information from her, even after spending so much time working together on the first movie.
And we would sit next to each other every morning in the makeup chair as we rehearsed our lines and our accents and our work together for the day, and he was amazing and he reminded me of that.
