It’s not the best time to be a user of Android Autosince reports of serious failures continue to accumulate with its most recent update that even now has completely ruined Google’s voice command support.
A few days ago we reported how the company massively released the latest Android Auto update that completely renewed its interface to integrate an annoying sidebar that has proven not to be as effective.
Criticism has been accumulating in recent days due to the serious alteration of the viewing and navigation experience of the platform, which is increasingly tangled and compact due to the desire to integrate too many shortcuts and data on the same screen.
But that would not be the biggest problem that Android Auto users have encountered now, since an old and annoying bug has reappeared that leaves the entire application almost unusable.
At least for the most active users who use one of the most practical features of the system: voice commands.
“Hey, Google” is useless after the latest Android Auto update
Android Auto is in principle an application that allows you to use the smartphone on the car screen to improve the driving experience and not risk the driver to an accident by trying to manipulate the Smartphone while driving.
In that sense, the “Hey, Google” voice command is a more than useful ally, since it allows you to answer calls, take dictation, send text messages and even control streaming music services.
However, unfortunately, since the most recent update everything has been ruined, since the voice command it no longer works correctly.
Broadly speaking, the assistant does hear the command but does not respond to what is asked afterwards. So this prevents users from controlling Android Auto functions by using their voice.
As we mentioned, this issue had occurred before and had been fixed with an app update that arrived shortly after.
This is something that seemed to have finally been buried. But now, out of nowhere, the exact same error has returnedit’s just that the patch has taken a long time to arrive.
At the moment, affected users can only use the “Hey, Google” functions by tapping on the button on the screen so that the voice command is effectively heard.
But this “solution” forces users to use their hands, which represents a problem and even a danger when driving the car.
Version 10.5 has not been updated to cover this bug. So we recommend not migrating to the current update if you have the opportunity.
