eCommerce giant Amazon recently announced that it is planning an initiative that will allow manufacturers to create their own custom Alexa-based voice assistants. The program will take the name of Alexa Custom Assistant and will offer the tools to modify functions such as the activation phrase, skills and abilities in general.
All added customizations will be available to the end-user along with normal Alexa features. This program, which obviously aims to spread the use of Amazon Alexa as much as possible, will leverage the ability to reduce the cost and complexity of creating your own voice assistant for cars, consumer electronics, mobile applications, and more.
There is also a bit of Italy in this story because the FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) group will be one of the first manufacturers to integrate Alexa Custom Assistant in some of its vehicles. The possibilities that this type of solution can bring to virtually any device that surrounds us are endless. On the privacy side, Amazon said it will manage the data and enforce the same ” strict privacy and security policies ” that are already in place for Alexa. The first 15 countries to have Alexa Custom Assistant will be: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Brazil.
