Following the recent events within Blizzard, the video game industry is increasingly aware of abusive behavior and toxic work environments. In that sense, now Almost half of Paradox Interactive employees claim to have experienced harassment at the company. So has made known the Swedish newspaper Breakit after collecting the survey that Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer have carried out among 133 of the approximately 400 workers that make up Paradox, a video game publisher based in Stockholm, capital of Sweden.
According to the aforementioned source, 44% of those interviewed claim to have suffered some kind of discrimination during their stay in the company, but the situation is even more aggravated in the case of women. The 69% of Paradox Interactive employees say they have experienced abuse by their superiors or other workers, while in the case of employees men are 33% who admit to having suffered this harassment in their own flesh. The study published by Breakit also collects that almost none of those affected believe that Paradox treated the situation as it deserved, while it points out that the perpetrators of these incidents have been systematically protected by the highest levels of the company.
An investigation claims that Activision Blizzard employees are subjected to sexual harassment
Just a few days ago, Ebba Ljungerud resigned from his position as director of the company, giving way to Fredrik Wester, who already held the position for a decade before Ljungerud’s rise in 2018. The company claims that Ljungerud’s resignation is due to differences in creative vision of Paradox Interactive and that it has nothing to do with the information published by Breakit, which leaves the Swedish study in a very compromised situation, which will have to clarify responsibilities to repair as much as possible the damage caused to its employees.
