A few days ago I told you that Alex Garland had a new project on his hands, described as an epic full of action, which will be released under the title of ‘Civil War’. But before diving into his production, the Briton has to release ‘Men’, a horror feature film that will bring him together with the always interesting studio A24 and whose first – and fantastic, everything is said – trailer you can see on these lines.
Garland + A24 = Win
After watching the trailer for ‘Men’ on loop four or five times, which has me completely obsessed with its sound design, its ability to unsettle, and some of the images chiseled by Rob Hardy —a regular collaborator with Garland and responsible for the direction of photography for ‘Annihilation’ and the pristine ‘Ex_Machina’—, I can tell you some other details about the film, which will be released on May 20 in the United States.
Starring jessie buckley – nominated for an Oscar for ‘The Dark Daughter’ -, Rory Kinnear —’Black Mirror’— and Papa Essiedu —’It may destroy you’—, and produced by Cahal Bannon, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich, the content of the film remains a mystery; although judging by Garland’s filmography and what appear to be biblical allegories that can be seen in the preview, it is likely that we are facing a new exercise of those that leave your mind dissolved.
For the moment, ‘Men’ does not have a release date in Spainand it would be rare that he had it before its release in the US, but while we light a candle and wait for the miracle, I leave you with his synopsis official.
“After suffering a personal tragedy, Harper retreats alone to the beautiful English countryside in hopes of finding a place to heal her wounds. But someone or something from the surrounding woods seems to be stalking her. What begins as a latent fear becomes becomes a bona fide nightmare, inhabited by her darkest memories and fears in visionary filmmaker Alex Garland’s new horror film.”
