Alessandro Pier Guidi is taking center stage in the testing program for Ferrari’s LMH prototype. The Italian considers that the brand is taking the right steps and I advance every time the car hits the asphalt.
The 2023 WEC season marks the birth of a new era of endurance with the long-awaited convergence of the LMH and LMDh prototypes. Parallel and different paths that intersect and in which up to six manufacturers are involved. Toyota, Peugeot and Glickenhaus will continue to compete with LMH vehicles, while Porsche and Cadillac will seek success with LMDh prototypes. For its part, Ferrari is the only manufacturer to debut an LMH.
Perhaps for this reason, but also because of the secrecy with which they are moving from the manufacturer, the development of the Ferrari LMH prototype is up. much less expectation than might be expected if you take into account that the brand returns to the queen class of resistance after decades of absence. Nevertheless, everything goes according to the plans of the brand and this has been confirmed by Alessandro Pier Guidi, factory pilot of the Italian house.
“So far, we’re going according to plan. […] We still have some tests ahead of us and I am confident that we can improve a lot.”
In the last weeks, Ferrari’s LMH has rolled in Imola and Portimao, two tests that have been a complete success in terms of performance. In fact, the Prancing Horse’s vehicle, always with the appropriate camouflage livery, has already passed the 10,000 kilometer test mark. At least this is what has slipped from the upper echelons of the Maranello brand.
«Are we heading in the right direction. We have improved every time the car has been on the track, from the beginning. And I think we’ve improved pretty quickly. Face test is better than the previous one and this is very important for us because time is short. The car will already compete in March. We also have to take into account that everything has to be sent before because we compete in the United States », he pointed out Alessandro Pier Guidi.
Ferrari has already confirmed that the release date of its LMH will be October 30
Unconfirmed drivers
«So far, we’re going according to plan. For us it is good to have the possibility to drive the car, even if the drivers don’t know if we will compete with it or not. We all try to be as prepared as possible.. The car is complicated, so time behind the wheel is very valuable for us, but also for the engineers. Let’s all go together» added Pier Guidi.
Ferrari has confirmed that its squad will be made up of in-house drivers, but nothing is finalized yet. All in all, Alessandro Pier Guidi speaks he hopes to be part of the lineup: «I’m quite happy. We still have some tests ahead of us, but I am confident that we can improve a lot. For us it is important, at least, to have reliability. Then it improves performance. We all feel involved to improve as fast as we can and be ready to compete.”
