As of January 14, Microsoft stopped providing technical support to its Windows 7 operating system, so all PCs that have this version of Windows no longer have protection against possible viruses and malicious programs.
Ten years after its launch, Windows 7 remains one of the most popular operating systems on PCs, so Microsoft called on users to update their Windows 10 computer, which has all the necessary security protections.
In April 2019, the company founded by Bill Gates had already warned about this eventual decision, which in colloquial words means that Windows 7 computers will not have more security updates and, therefore, will be more vulnerable to viruses and malicious programs.
Through Twitter, Microsoft Support wrote the following message that ends one of its most popular operating systems in the world:
“After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer be compatible with Windows 7, which means that your PC will not receive any more updates or security fixes…”
Will Windows 7 still work on PCs?
The company said that users who still have Windows 7 installed on their PC will be able to continue using this operating system, but stressed that they will no longer receive the security protections and updates offered by Microsoft, making their computers more vulnerable to viruses and malicious programs.
Those who want to protect their computers should upgrade to the Windows 10 operating system, but be careful !: Windows 7 users may have to buy a new PC, since older ones may not be compatible with the latest version of Windows.
