A new official line of aid to manufacturing industries has just been announced – with an important role in the agri-food sector – to promote innovation and sustainability plans during this year 2021. The program has an endowment of 94 million euros, of which 80 will be used for loans and, as a novelty, 14 million will be for grants.
This is how the Official State Gazette of yesterday Monday, which published the call for this program of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism with which the development and implementation of innovation and sustainability plans in industrial companies is sought through the execution of industrial research projects, technological development, innovation processes and organization of industrial companies in various thematic priorities, and investments focused on sustainability through the improvement of energy efficiency and environmental protection beyond the standards of the Union.
Innovation in the manufacturing industry
The program aims at the transition that will allow manufacturing industries to give rise to technologically advanced products and services, with higher added value and more sustainable, which will be the axis of a more competitive, digitized, environmentally sustainable and climate neutral future industry, in in line with the objectives set by the European Commission in its Communication COM (2020) 102, A new industrial strategy for Europe, of March 10.
It is aimed at companies that at the time of application have developed a productive industrial activity for a period of at least 3 years. Global plans presented by companies that incorporate R + D + i and sustainability projects will be supported. The thematic areas of the call cover aspects such as the circular economy and eco-innovation applied in the improvement of value chains, decarbonisation, energy efficiency, new sources of renewable energy and reduction of polluting emissions, advanced materials and products, and innovation in processes of quality and safety.
The selected initiatives will access grants up to 80% of the bankable budget, in a mix of grants of up to 1.4 million euros per plan, completing with repayable loans at an interest rate of 0% and with a total repayment term of 10 years. with a deficiency of 3. The deadline for submitting applications will end on August 26, 2021.
