No matter where you travel from, it is worth spending your Easter vacation in Chihuahua for the archaeological sites that you can visit there. Cuarenta Casas is already, by UNESCO decree, a World Heritage Site due to its anthropological and archaeological importance. They are a series of 15 rooms, some of them two floors, made of cast adobe built in the 13th century. In that area there are several caves with buildings inside, the best known of which is the Las Ventanas cave.
The cliff houses are the most developed site of the Casas Grandes culture after the colossal Paquimé. The latter is another of the must-see sites to visit in Chihuahua. The archaeological zone of the Paquimé Culture is located approximately 260 km northwest of the city of Chihuahua, half a kilometer from the town of Casas Grandes. This archaeological area was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998.
