- OnlyFans recently announced new measures regarding the content of its creators
- Faced with such a decision, the workers have complained to the platform because they consider such measures “ambiguous”
- To replace OnlyFans, JustForFans has emerged, a new platform that could be the lifeline for some creators
A few days ago, OnlyFans announced new measures regarding the content of its creators, which, although nude will be accepted, will have new policies.
The decision of OnlyFans has caused a great controversy in the sector of sex workers who had an important source of income on the platform, which is why they have complained to the site. But let’s go to the beginning.
The arrival of the pandemic brought true chaos in the world; millions of patients, millions of deaths, high levels of unemployment, school dropouts, domestic violence, among many other things. The recovery, more than a year after the beginning of this period, has not been easy, especially since Covid-19 has a new wave that continues to wreak havoc.
Many people, internet users, saw in some digital platforms or social networks a way to start generating some income, while they waited for the situation to improve. In addition, they had the advantage that they could do it from home.
Of the wide range of sites that positioned themselves as a constant and in some cases important source of income, OnlyFans is probably the one that attracted the most attention and, in turn, the one that made the most noise. A platform that, in some way, is best known for allowing nude and pornographic content to be disseminated.
It is not the first to do so, but it did mark an important watershed, because, as a result of the pandea, millions of users around the world turned to it to upload their content and charge for them.
Currently, OnlyFans has more than one million content creators, which register more than two billion dollars in annual sales. Of those figures, the app reserves 20 percent, which makes it earn 400 million dollars a year.
However, this could change and affect some of its creators, especially those who have pornographic nudity content, since, as they have stated, the platform’s measurements are very ambiguous.
According to information reported by El Financiero, some OnlyFans users are confused as to what content will be classified as “pornographic”, since, in addition, the platform has not specified it well.
This represents a danger to their finances, since OnlyFans was an important source of income and many creators charged around $ 10 per month for their subscription and had more than 300 thousand followers or likes on the application.
Given this scenario, following what was reported by El Financiero, for some sex workers it is a measure with which they are “getting rid” of them, which, on the one hand, keeps them with some concern, although they are already thinking about moving to JustForFans, a new platform that, it seems, will continue the legacy of OnlyFans.
Taking into account the numbers and growth of OnlyFans in recent months, this could affect its annual income, since much of its content was intimate and pornographic, in addition to being a safe site for users.
The minimum subscription on OnlyFans was $ 5 a month, while some more popular accounts could ask for a much higher amount from their subscribers.
In that sense, it was an important application (probably the most important) in terms of income generation and now, with its new policies and the emergence of JustForFans the “reign” of OnlyFans could be diminished.
