The new Toyota Aygo will be a reality in 2022. The Japanese firm will cover one of the segments of the high-volume market, the A of urban models, with a new generation of its smallest model, and with which it hopes to reach one million and half of units in 2025. The new Toyota Aygo will be offered with an unprecedented cross variants.
The third generation of Toyota Aygo is one of the most anticipated models for next year, because while a large part of European manufacturers have renounced the A segment, Toyota has decided to remain in the category with a completely new model that has nothing to do with the previous “triplets” developed together with PSA. High costs have been the most used argument to dispense with models in this category.
However, the Japanese are convinced that there is a market and that electrification is not necessary to gain a foothold among the urbanites. Even Toyota will kill two birds with one stone, since the Aygo will be offered with a more crossover aesthetic, a type of model that is not very common in this segment. The Aygo has already officially gone ahead with an attractive concept car, the Toyota Aygo X Prologue, and also with a recreation that we have shown you, but today we present you the Toyota Aygo Cross.
The Toyota Aygo Cross, an urban and fun proposal that will arrive in 2022
A more fun option that preserves the main essence of the design of the model, with muscular wheel arches, especially the rear ones, the “C” -shaped headlights, a large front grille, vertical lamps flanking the rear window and the wheels positioned at the ends of the body, which gives a more sporty design and also greater poise and stability on the asphalt.
The complement will be put a few extra millimeters on the bodywork to the ground, larger wheels, and the typical decorative elements of the cross versions, adding the dark plastics on the wheel arches, side skirts and aluminum-look protections on both the front and rear. Some special accessories that will also be transferred to the interior with a more playful and fresh design, which would become a masterpiece for those who do not want to give up the crossover concept in urban models.
The new Toyota Aygo 2022 will share the TGNA-B architecture of the Yaris although with a shorter length and wheelbase than this model. Despite this, the new Aygo will be larger than the current model, being offered strictly with a gasoline engine and different power levels. A block of three cylinders and 1.0 liters that will reach up to 95 hp, so this will keep costs low and, therefore, the final sale price. The new Aygo is expected to debut at the end of the year, and its commercial launch starts in the first half of 2022.
