The mid-life cycle update of the Mercedes GLB has already been hunted. The second compact SUV of the star brand faces a simple but important facelift that will allow it to increase its sales. We advance its design and its keys.
The new generation of compacts from the star brand was an important turning point. For the first time, the German brand decided to offer a more familiar SUV apart from the GLAwhose first generation swept the sales charts, so the strategy was based on a couple of fundamental pillars: a more familiar model and with the possibility of offering a seven-seater that, in the category of premium compacts, does not exist.
This is the role attributed to the Mercedes GLB. However, the plans have not finished coming out as the internal studies initially pointed out, since it was considered the heir to the GLK for its squarer appearance. A style that has weighed down sales and that, now with a facelift in between, they will try to solve. In this recreation we introduce you to Mercedes GLB Facelift 2023whose most outstanding features are its new more rectangular headlights and with the new daylight bead on the top edge.
Mercedes GLB Facelift 2023, the keys to a necessary update
Added to the headlights is a revised radiator grille, with multiple small chrome stars in the sporty “AMG Line” finish, and with smoother edges. The bumper will also be checked, both front and rear, especially the central area of the skirt. The pilots will also be updated with new optics, but retaining the original shape of the optical groups.
The GLB 2023 will benefit from the news of all the compacts that are in the process of development and we have seen in spy photos. The transmission tunnel touchpad disappears, being replaced by the gesture control, and the “MBUX” interface is updated to the latest version. New textile materials and color combinations for the seats, dashboard decoration and a simplification of the optional equipment grouped in packages will arrive.
The multifunction steering wheel will also be revised, betting on some new capacitive controls with haptic feedback. The compact SUV will maintain the current offer of five and seven seats, and also the mechanical offer of gasoline and diesel-will add 48-volt MHEV technology in the 2.0-liter blocks– and will improve the capacity of the battery in the PHEV version, with more autonomy in electric mode. Mercedes plans to introduce the GLB Facelift around next spring, with sales scheduled for early summer 2023.
