For a little over a year, ActivisionBlizzard has faced an almost endless stream of lawsuits. The company run by Bobby Kotick has been accused of systematic harassment, discrimination and sexual abuse of female employees.
Now, a new demand monopolizes the spotlights. As revealed by Kotaku, a former employee has presented the legal text in Los Angeles and points directly to the company and Miguel Vega, a former manager of the employees. Once again, Activision Blizzard is singled out for its inability to remedy Vega’s harassing and sexist behavior towards the employee.
Along with comments of a sexual nature, Vega threatened to fire her if she did not agree to have sex with him and to make public a private photo of her. The relationship between the two dates back to 2009/2010, years in which they met during a night out with other Activision Blizzard colleagues. A friendship developed between them, which led to her sharing compromising photos.
Although the link ended in 2011, the truth is that Vega helped him in 2016 to get a job as an independent contractor for Activision Blizzard. Later, he acquired a full-time position in the Player Support department. However, the advances, groping and mistreatment were frequent over time.
Her formal complaint to Activision Blizzard Human Resources occurred in 2017 but, according to her, the company did absolutely nothing. It was not until September 2021 when the employee warned her superior of Vega’s behavior that he was fired. This worker’s claims include a jury trial, damages, legal fees, lost wages and medical expenses.
