The Audi A6 Avant TFSIe is the plug-in hybrid version of the second family of the brand with the four rings. Another one that I have gone through the ABT Sportline workshops to increase its performance with an important extra. An improvement that does not interfere with efficiency levels.
Familiar, very efficient but also much sportier than the original model. That’s how he is ABT Audi A6 Avant TFSI e. Practically when the model is being tested and will soon receive an aesthetic update, the German manufacturer has decided to offer extra power to interested customers, since they consider that its characteristics do not prevent it from offering a plus in performance.
The specialists of ABT Sportsline They have not retouched the aesthetic part of the kit presented last year 2018, something that they will do when the facelift is presented. But in the powertrain it has benefited from a new control unit for the 3.0-liter TFSI inline six-cylinder engine that displaces the Audi A6 plug-in hybrid range. Its 265 hp of maximum power, together with its maximum torque of 370 Nm, which are approved as standard, have been converted to 315 hp and 430 Nm.
Two plug-in hybrids more powerful than the Audi S6 itself
Audi offers two PHEV versions in both the A6 Berlina and the A6 Avant, the “50 TFSI e quattro” and “55 TFSI e quattro”. The two share a 143 hp electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with a 14.1 kWh capacity that offers just over 50 kilometers of maximum autonomy in electric mode, and up to a top speed of 135 km/h in zero emission mode. Part that has not been touched by the tuning specialist, but which assumes that the first version goes from 299 CV of total joint power to 357 CV and a torque that grows to 500 Nm.
In the case of the 55 TFSI e quattro, its factory specifications yield a maximum power output of 367 CV and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, figures that have been raised to 425 hp and 550 Nm. Two versions that far exceed the figures offered by one of the sportiest options in the range, that of the S6, which is only offered with a 344 hp 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine.
This well-deserved update is the same that the same mechanics of the Audi Q5 TFSI e have also received. The engine control unit «ABT Engine Control», of the «plug & play» type, does not imply the loss of the official manufacturer’s guarantee, nor does it impair the tax advantages that this model may have in the different European countries, nor does it interfere with its purely electrical operation over short distances . Now, when you step on the accelerator fully, it becomes a sports car.
