40 years after breaking up, ABBA returned to the stage, offering a fully digital experience to attendees.
The members of the group were baptized as “Abbatares”, who gave the first hologram concert in the world.
ABBA broke up in 1982 after 10 years of experience and it was only recently that they confirmed their virtual return to the stage.
The legendary Swedish group ABBA is back and so they share on TikTok the experience of the first hologram concert in the world.
The future, as we conceived it in the past, continues to reach us, so much so that, today, virtual experiences are part of everyday life.
We live in a moment in history where terms or words like “metaverse”, “NFT”, “Artificial Intelligence”, “digitization”, among others, are part of the language of a large number of people and virtual experiences are becoming more “natural”, so to speak.
To a large extent, the arrival of the pandemic, according to several experts, accelerated that digitization process that began even decades ago and that we saw more in industries such as cinema; however, we know that today it is possible to live in a much more routine digital environment, from online classes, virtual conferences and even concerts, as happened with the virtual edition of the Pa’l Norte Festival.
However, technology continues to advance to such an extent that, finally, today we can already speak of the first concert with holograms in the world, offered by the legendary Swedish group ABBA.
This was the first ABBA hologram concert
They had to pass 40 years for the quartet made up of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad to return to the stagebut, given the current conditions, they had to do it to set the tone.
It was in 1982 when the group decided to separate after 10 years of experience, but it was on May 27 when, through “Abbatares”, the group offered the first hologram concert in the world.
The experience was shared on TikTok, thanks to the user @jhesusaramburoa video that quickly went viral and even made ABBA trend on the popular Chinese social network.

It should be noted that the members of ABBA are already over 70 years old, since last year the group announced their ABBA Voyage project, which is a completely digitized concert with the quartet as the protagonist, but rejuvenated.
There is no doubt that the Metaverse is here to stay and become, over the years, the main trend of brands. Once Mark Zuckerberg adopts the word in his vocabulary, the trend was upward; his most ambitious project is currently one of the market’s big bets for the future.
In fact, Statista data speaks that the value of the Metaverse rose, until 2021, approximately 500 billion dollars Americans, a figure that could increase fivefold by 2030.
Based on this premise, it is possible that the trend of concerts -and other events- with avatars will begin to have a significant boom, offering a different experience to users and music lovers.
So far, the video on TikTok has more than two million views and more than 400 thousand likes. On the other hand, let’s remember that it was last year when ABBA activated its account on the ByteDance platform and currently has over 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
