Super Mario Sunshine is currently considered one of the best Mario 3D titles that have been released. Of course, this was not always the case, and the title came with lots of new mechanics and concepts that scared many fans of the time. Now, however, a group of modders have come together to make a surrender to the GameCube title, and have started developing an expansion.
The mod comes under the name of Super Mario Eclipse, and promises to be an expansion of Super Mario Sunshine with a lot of news. We will be able to resume our role as Mario and access a lot of new content on Delfino Island, with a new story, objects, levels and new areas that invite you to explore them. Those responsible have even published a launch trailer for the demo.
A whole new experience for the classic Super Mario Sunshine
On Super Mario Eclipse We can also play as Luigi and other new characters, each with different characteristics and abilities that will make each game a different experience. Downloading the mod is free, and you can do it from this link. On the web you will also have instructions for its correct installation.
Of course, this group of modders runs a great risk, and that is that Nintendo is quite famous for suing anyone to use some of its intellectual properties. However, its creators they claim to be exempt since Nintendo only sues fan-made titles and not existing game mods.
The requirements to run Super Mario Eclipse are: any device that can apply an Xdelta file, any device that runs GameCube games, and a brain. However, for now does not work with GameCube or Nintendo Wii / Wii U, so you can only play it from emulators. Also, you will need a copy of Super Mario Sunshine to which to apply the mod.
