If speedrunners have become known for something, as their name implies, it is for challenging the skills of the players against time. That is why the competitions have spread all over the world, obtaining some of the most impressive results. One fact is that players have used some tricks to save time and even game errors in order to achieve their goal.
Meanwhile, the dedication of some speedrunner fans is unquestionable, as is the active participation in the forums, where the most inexperienced users tend to seek doubts and concerns in order to break important records. In this way, many communities have been formed around the competitions; but the good news is that not only have these communities become more solid, but speedrunners have multiplied and, with them, the possibilities of facing increasingly diverse and complex challenges, where players can beat their own marks, have increased and those of their opponents.
Taking into account the above, the records practically determine the category of popularity of some speedrunners among thousands of users, since multiple players have shared their experiences with many games, thus demonstrating their skills and the speed with which they perform the movements that are performed. They need to get to the end of the race as quickly as possible.
A user demonstrating their skills in Portal
In view of several memorable races in the history of speedrunners, a user, named Shizzal, recently shared a video on his YouTube account that has caught the attention of the public, and it is not for less, since he has achieved something with which many inexperienced users -and not so inexperienced- would dream: set a world record in puzzle games from Valve. The amount of time was impressive, with just 5:56 minutes he managed to finish the race with an impressive accuracy, that only a seasoned player could obtain. In fact, in the video we can see how easily the player would lose control of his actions, costing him extra time, were it not for the skills he has shown at all times. Below we share the video that you can also see from your bill:
It seems that Shizzal knows the Portal map perfectly, because his movements are quite successful when solving the puzzles, considering that he does not make any mistakes during the game.
For those unfamiliar with this well-known puzzle game, the amazing thing about the runner’s records is that it would take most players a few hours to fully solve them, so after a few years there have been many attempts by the community to achieve a mark like the one that Shizzal has broken both in the video and in other occasions. Fact that other players could verify with the number of milliseconds that it has taken the user, compared to others who have ventured to attempt these feats.
This means that it is not the first time that the player gives a small sample of what he can do in this game. Mostly in the PC version, his record on Speedruns.com has not gone unnoticed, thanks to other records that earned him some popularity within the community. The first of them is a race that he managed to finish without any errors (which, of course, he also showed us in the previous video), in an exact time of 14:36; in the second, he reached the end in 8:37. In reality, the category of the last race is in “out of bounds”, as the player is free to use glitches in order to gain traction.
After the list of records that this user has accumulated, it could be said that it opens the doors for more players to look for other ways to improve themselves and other runners. Speedrunners have made such a huge mark on the community that more and more fans, like Shizzal, are breaking world records in their favorite games. And not satisfied with it, they will continue looking for ingenious strategies. Of course, Portal is an example of this, with 15 years since its launch. But the fans could still surprise us with some hidden talents that the game encourages them.
