John woo has decided to return to Hollywood 18 years after ‘Paycheck’. Only that would already be news to take into account, but it is also going to do it to shoot a silent action movie which will star Joel kinnaman, recently seen in ‘The Suicide Squad’.
Revenge
The premise itself is true that it does not sound particularly promising, since the story of ‘Silent Night’ -not to be confused with the film of the same title this year- revolves around a father who is willing to the extent necessary to avenge the death of his son. Besides Woo’s presence behind the cameras, what makes her special is that it’s not going to have any lines of dialogue.
I imagine that this will be one of the aspects that have led the director of the great ‘Face to face’ to return to Hollywood, where he worked for 10 years, starting with ‘Human White’ in 1993 and ending with the aforementioned film starring Ben affleck.
At the moment the financing agreements are being closed and on who will produce ‘Silent Night’, but interested parties are not lacking, so something very strange would have to happen so that the project does not go ahead. In fact, from Deadline they clarify that the casting process for the rest of the cast is already underway.
