The non-profit DLT Science Foundation (DSF) has been launched with the intention of encouraging the adoption of distributed ledger technology (DLT).
In an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, the DSF highlighted that it would offer support in several areas, including education, innovation, and research. This means it will create educational materials, open innovation workshops and programs, as well as grants and scholarships for academics.
The organization will also support members of its university network through grants. The network includes universities such as the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, the London School of Economics, the National University of Singapore, University College London and the University of Zurich.
The DSF is also supported by the Hedera open source public ledger project. According to the announcement, Hedera will lend his DLT expertise to the DSF University Network.
The organization has also opened its first call for grant proposals. According to the announcement, the DSF is offering up to $5 million to eligible organizations or individuals.
Paolo Tasca, president and co-founder of the DSF, expressed his enthusiasm for the potential breakthroughs that can result from his efforts. According to Tasca, unlocking the potential of DLT will lead to a better future for everyone. He explained that:
“The DLT Science Foundation aims to drive innovation, encourage new models of collaboration between academia, industry and the Administration, and promote the responsible adoption of DLT in companies and society.”
Nikhil Vadgama, director and co-founder of the organization, also commented on the launch. According to Vadgama, the DSF has the opportunity to enhance the academic world and education in various universities. “Based on our own experiences and the challenges we have faced, we have developed scholarship programs specifically designed to address the needs of the DLT community,” Vadgama explained.
