Balance provides spatial awareness, that is, a correct relationship between the body and what surrounds us.
It is not good nor should you accelerate the acquisition of balance of your little one, but you can give him a hand with something very simple: allowing him to practice movement. And is that babies are not born with that ability. Body balance is gained through effort and practice. And it is not fully achieved until the age of five. Next, discover how your baby’s balance develops depending on his age.
8-9 months: remains sitting without support. You will not fall unless you are tired. Many little ones start to crawl on all fours.
10 months: sits unaided and with legs straight. You can do some activity while sitting, for example, manipulating a toy.
13 months: remains standing subject to something. For some children, it is enough to grasp the finger of an adult, even if they do not lean on it. Knowing that it is there gives you security.
12-16 months: most children begin to walk in these months without the help of an adult or the support of a piece of furniture. They are really funny, some extend their hands to control balance.
16-18 months: learn to walk backwards. It is not a very useful thing, if you stop to think about it, but it helps them develop a lot of balance. To check that your child already has this ability, try this: When the child is standing, make a move to surprise him. If he stood still or dropped to the ground before, he would now take a few steps backwards trying to wave your hand.
19-21 months: watch out, he’s become reckless! If only a few months ago you took your first steps fearfully and with great care, now you are able to climb into a chair and stand until you lower it.
2 years: you can kick a ball now. To do this you have to support yourself on one leg. What a great achievement!
