With various information pointing to the arrival of a remastering of the classic GTAs, the own Take-Two has already put the brakes on a group of modders they reverse engineered in GTA 3 and GTA Vice City. With these precedents present, today one more example has been added to the list of cancellations.
GTA Underground is the name given to a mod devised by dkluin intended for GTA San Andreas with a really ambitious goal. The intention of dkluin and the rest of his team was to unify the maps of the rest of GTA of the same generation. Moreover, it was also intended to combine the scenarios of Bully and Manhunt.
Through a message on GTAForums, dkluin has reported that, for fear of possible actions taken by Take-Two, have decided to abandon the project and remove all access to what they had created so far. This is the shared text, along with a farewell video thanking all the support.
Hi everyone.
Due to the growing hostility towards the modding community and the imminent danger to our mental and financial well-being, we regret to announce that we are officially halting development of GTA: Underground and will shortly be taking all official files offline.
We would like to thank the community for the immense support they have given us over the past few years and our talented modding team for the incredible work, dedication, and great times we had together.
However, it may not be the end for us as a team. Many members of the team, as well as some modders from outside the team, have shown interest in creating our own title. We cannot confirm or deny anything about it, but we will keep you informed.
In 2014 dkluin had started with the work and that it would not be limited to just pasting the maps, but add AI and traffic routines to maps, in addition to including cities entirely created by your group.
