Not all stories have a happy ending. And although Marvel has taken risks in several of its endings, they backed down here. Now what Ant-Man 3: Quantumania Already released in theaters around the world, fans of the MCU can argue over the theories that have been created over years of waiting. Various leaks filled moviegoers with emotion, some came true, and others were far-fetched. If you paid attention to the aforementioned leaks, you may have noticed that the end of Ant-Man 3: Quantumania, at least the one shown in theaters, is very different from what was originally planned. What motivated the change?
WARNING: This note contains spoilers important to the movie.
In October 2022, an alleged leak revealed the full plot of Quantumania. Everything coincided with what was seen in theaters: the characters were trapped in the Quantum Realm, Janet and Kang knew each other before, and even Darren Cross returned as MODOK. However, the resolution of the third act changed radically.
According to that leak, the original ending of Ant-Man 3: Quantumania it did not show Kang being sucked into the core of the Multiversal Engine. Originally, the villain survived, beat Scott up (as in the movie), and prevented Scott from returning to his family. As Hope came back to save him, the duo nearly trapped Kang in the Quantum Realm, but he escaped, trapping the heroes.
The last scene of the movie involved Cassie looking for a way to save her father and Hope. While looking at different computers, something on one of them caught his eye. Cassie looked shocked and the screen went black. An intriguing and much darker outcome, where, once again, the protagonists lost, as happened in Avengers: Infinity War. Nothing compared to the family reunion with which the tape closes.
It is worth mentioning that this “new ending” was shot a few weeks ago. In January, various media reported that Quantumania he was in reshoots. And if we look at the costumes of the characters, we can recognize that these are the final scenes that we all saw. The decision, apparently, was made a few months ago, and reinforces the theory that Marvel does not have a fixed point with their productions. It had never been reported that an MCU tape changed its ending within a few weeks of its premiere.
Obviously, no member of the production has spoken openly on the subject. So far, all they have are statements from visual effects artists. These confirmed different traps to hide the lack of time and money to finish the tape. Does it have to do with the change in the ending? Did the original outcome involve complex effects or planning that they simply couldn’t afford?
Ant-Man 3: Quantumania It is available in theaters throughout Mexico. What ending would you have liked for this controversial tape?
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
