Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has affected all sectors of the country, and the video game industry has not been an exception. The best example we could find today was the one that had affected GSC Game World, creators of STALKER 2, who had seen how they had to delay the release of the game due to difficulties in continuing development.
However, none of this compares to the loss of human life, and today we have to mourn the sad news that a developer of the Metro saga dies after some injuries caused during one of the defense missions of his land. Specifically, it is Andrii Korzinkin, who worked on Metro Exodus taking care of the title’s combat animations.
Andrii “Nizrok” Korzinkin (@korzinkin_3d) died while performing a combat mission in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. A talented animator, incredible person and real hero. Rest in peace, friend. We all miss you. https://t.co/2OC83CMdfU

A developer of the Metro saga dies in the war between Ukraine and Russia
Like other developers and ordinary citizens, Korzinkin decided to voluntarily enlist in the army of his country to fight Russia. Unfortunately, the news that the developer had died has been offered by Leonid Stepanov, with whom he worked during the development of Metro Exodus in the 4A Games team, who has described him as “A talented animator, an amazing person, a true hero. He rests in peace, friend. Miss you”.
The release of STALKER 2 is still scheduled for 2023, thus denying the rumors of a possible delay
In addition, this has not been the only message of affection that has come from Korzinkin’s former teammates, since Vitalii Keda, with whom he also met during his stay at 4A Games, and who has shared a publication through his LinkedInwhere you wanted value the work of the developer and how he was as a person.
