The wallpaper is a fundamental element of the style of our device. Aware of this, the developer Rafael Conde has decided remaster four classic Mac OS X wallpapers to convert them to 6K and P3 images.
Four little pieces of history
For now the collection includes the aurora wallpapers that we saw in Leopard and Snow Leopard as well as the galaxy of Lion and Mountain Lion. Very iconic backgrounds that we can now enjoy in its highest possible resolution and in a P3 color space. And how has something like this been achieved? Conde has mainly used Machine Learning and a lot of patience.
“Good question. It’s nothing to write home about, I’ve located the original versions of the wallpapers, scaled them using Machine Learning, applied a P3 color space, Machine Learning to remove noise, and then manually adjusted them to They are more in line with how I remembered them. It’s not perfect, but it was the best I could do. “
The funds can be downloaded from a small site that we will find in OSX.photo in which, in a very correct way, the track “Exodus Honey” is reproduced. For those newer to the platform remember that this was the song that was played in the intro videos of the Mac in Leopard and Snow Leopard.
The wallpapers of the different operating systems are a very appreciated component for the most nostalgic. Now we can enjoy these images on our iMac M1 or Apple Pro Display XDR in all its glory.
