In recent years, Activision, along with Infinity Ward and other studios, have focused on creating new experiences for the Call of Duty saga without seeking to innovate much in its formula. with the recent Microsoft purchase of Activision Blizzard King, it seems that the studios behind the Call of Duty saga will take another course, starting by stopping releasing a CoD every year. These decisions seem to have been made before Activision’s negotiations with Microsoft, but as of the officialization of the purchase they will come into effect.
Modern Warfare II could have a map editor for the first time in the saga
Infinity Ward, developers of the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare II due out in October this year, appear to be looking for new talent for a Call of Duty RPG that could be in the works. We know this thanks to the Twitter user Faizan Shaykh which provides us with the list of requirements to work at Infinity Ward. The studio is looking for someone to create an open world RPG experience that may or may not be a Call of Duty.
A Call of Duty RPG could be in the works
The responsibilities that will be assigned to the person who acquires the position begin with providing the best narrative and a great cinematic experience in an open world RPG; participate in the creation of a story, characters, lore and the creation of the world; cooperate with writers, quest designers, and the gameplay team for excellent element cohesion, and more. At the moment Infinity Ward is wrapping up with the release of their next Call of Duty Modern Warfare II which will arrive in Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and more platforms.
