There is no doubt that 2021 is being an especially beneficial year for a Xiaomi that managed to place itself as number one in sales in Europe and that also flirts with the first position in the world, surpassing Apple and tuting itself with Samsung, the until now undisputed market leader. In addition, the company faces changes such as its entry into the world of electric vehicles or the abandonment of its surname Mi to call its terminals simply Xiaomi.
Xiaomi grows in sales and of course, so do its figures and the data accumulated both by the company itself and by Canalys, one of the most reputable consulting firms in the medium, indicate that the Chinese firm is skyrocketing and has taken a big leap in the last year. Xiaomi has not only increased its revenue by almost 60% in the last twelve months but it also brings its net profit growth to 87.4%. All this, we emphasize, in one year.
Income and profits skyrocketed and competing for the world No. 1 to Samsung
With the month of June 2021 already closed for accounting purposes, Xiaomi has announced the official figures of its performance. Figures corresponding to the second quarter of the year, between the months of April and June, and which has indicated that the brand’s full revenue has amounted to 87 billion yuan, about 11,410 million euros at the current exchange rate.
These revenues mark a growth of 64% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, but not only the income section has grown, but also that of the benefits. Xiaomi has obtained a net profit of 6,300 million yuan, about 826.25 million euros at the current exchange rate, which means that the company has grown 87.4% in its profits in a single year.
In the same presentation of figures, Xiaomi has wanted to put in black on white the company’s performance in the entire first half of the year and that is where we find revenue growth of 59.5% (164,671 million yuan, about 21,597 million euros at the exchange rate) and a growth in gross profit of 92.1% year-on-year (29,309 million yuan, about 3,844 million euros to change).
In addition, the company takes the opportunity to quote market share data collected by Canalys. The consulting firm places Xiaomi as the first brand in Europe (with a 28.5% share) and the second worldwide with a market share of 16.7% worldwide. As we see, Xiaomi is really fired and definitively snatching the throne from Samsung does not seem such a far-fetched thing. Not so far in time.
