Saw X, to the surprise of many, is triumphing on the big screen. The positive reception of the film, both critically and at the box office, shows that the franchise is more alive than ever. After its premiere, curious details that occurred during its production emerge. One of the stories is as funny as it is macabre.
Imagine that you are resting, and suddenly you begin to hear the screams of pain of a person who, apparently, is being tortured. You assume you have a potential serial killer as a neighbor and the first thing you do, of course, is call the police.
Steve Forn, assistant editor of Saw X, was editing some scenes of the feature film. The vast majority associated with moments where the performers, faithful to the saga, are tortured. The problem is that The sound was very loud and reached the ears of people who were not supposed to hear.
Kevin Greutert, director of Saw Xrelates to NME who saw through the doorbell camera how authorities from Los Angeles, California, approached the facilities. “There was a knock on the door. On the camera we see the police approaching. Forn opens the door and a police officer says: ‘Neighbors have been calling and saying someone is being tortured to death here’“
Forn, of course, quickly understood what was happening, and did not hesitate to tell the police the truth. “I’m just working on a movie… You can come and see it if you want,” the editor replied.
Fortunately, they also understood the situation. What initially started as a tense moment turned into laughter. “The policemen started laughing. They said, ‘We’d like to. But it’s all good. It was a very realistic performance.”
Greutert admits that the story is quite funny. “Steve is a very nice guy. I can only imagine the look on his face when he realized what was happening,” he said.
Without a doubt, an anecdote that everyone involved will remember. And those who made the call could surely breathe easier when they learned that those terrible screams were actually coming from the editing office of Saw X.
At the time of writing this post, Saw X has raised just over 29 million dollars, according to information from Box Office Mojo. However, this figure is expected to increase in the coming days thanks to good reviews from the audience.
